No anniversary without anniversary collection - or, in our case, two. Celebrations were kicked of this spring by the launch of our “50 Years of Modernism” Collection. Matching the upcoming, and, let’s be honest, mostly already-there cooler days we’re proud to present our autumn winter collection, “Roots Revival”, with items that embody everything Merc: style, comfort, and the British Subculture.

The Merc story began in 1967 with a small market stall on world-famous Carnaby Street. With our Roots Revival Collection, we’re commemorating this important moment in fashion history with a breath-taking line of re-imagined items from the past 50 years. Half a century of tradition, authenticity, and development.

At the centre of the AW17 collection are slightly subdued key colours, such as navy blue and khaki, livened up by a variety of prints and patterns – from our traditional house tartan to check, paisley and bold geometric prints that make for strong statement pieces. All items are easy to combine and make for a great variety of outfits, taking you from breakfast through to dinner, whether the occasion demands smart, casual, or business attire. All united by the aspiration to be comfortable and give the air of a classic with a modern twist.

Our Roots Revival Collection is once again modelled by some of our favourite London based musicians. Singer songwriter Ernie Jackson has been rocking the Merc style for this season’s street shoot, while the ruggedly handsome Rifles are showing off the AW17 pieces in our catalogue.

The Rifles are long-term Merc favourites and regulars, not only in front of our lens, but also on our playlist. One of the few bands with a London postcode who are considered recent masters of indie rock, with a wonderfully nostalgic nod to classic Britpop, and a seal of approval from the Modfather himself no less.

Ernie Jackson is the new kid on the blog so to speak, but has been creating music from an early age. His contemporary sound is given a classic flavour by his love for Motown, Soul and Doo-Wop and convinces with strong melodies, spark and depth. An act we’re certainly looking forward to hearing and seeing more from.
